The Internet has become more convenient in recent years.
But some tattoo artists has been using photos and designs of others with that.
They took the design from social media and the Internet without permission, which has become a major problem.

In particular, traditional tattoos such as Irezumi/Horimono in Japan, Tatau in Samoa and Sak Yant in Thailand are not just a tattoo. These are part of their culture which has been long history.
Their designs has meanings and stories. Also, there are rules and restrictions on the combination.

We are concerned that part of the tattoo culture is being misrepresented to the public. For that reason, we decided to working for protect our tradition to avoid an irreversible situation.

TAT / Traditional Tattoo Association is a non-profit organization. We do not advertise publicly and most of our activities are offline.

Traditional tattoos are created by our predecessors through trial and error. There are the thoughts, history. And stories of our predecessors that continue to be passed down from generation to generation.

We, who are engaged in the traditional tattooing have a responsibility that always remember the respect and gratitude to our predecessors. We should always be aware of protect the tradition, find right ways to update. Then pass it on to the next generation.

We hope that more and more people will interested in and respect the tradition/culture to understand the importance of correct knowledge and techniques for traditional tattoo.
